About
PDFtoMDConverter is a browser-based PDF to Markdown converter. It turns text PDFs and clear English scans into editable Markdown without an account and without uploading the document to an application server: the PDF is read locally in the browser, and the extracted text and the Markdown result stay on the device.
The converter follows a local processing path: PDF input, local read, Markdown output. For text-based PDFs it reads the document existing text layer, keeps a practical reading order, and rebuilds headings, lists and simple tables as Markdown. An optional page range lets you convert only part of a file, so a large document can be checked in smaller sections before the rest is processed.
Scanned pages are handled separately. Pages without a usable text layer are detected and prepared for local English OCR, while text pages stay on the faster extraction path, so mixed documents are processed page by page. Clear, upright scans work best; blur, handwriting, low contrast, equations and unusual typefaces can reduce recognition quality.
The output is built around Markdown as a text-structure format rather than a copy of page appearance. Heading hierarchy becomes Markdown headings when the source structure is clear, paragraph breaks are kept and multi-column pages are rebuilt into a practical reading sequence, bulleted and numbered lists become Markdown list syntax, and simple tables can become Markdown tables. The result is ordinary editable plain text: you can correct a heading, remove a repeated footer, rewrite a table or add notes, then copy it or download a .md file.
Typical uses are preparing source documents for knowledge and RAG workflows, keeping papers and reports in a plain-text format that works with version control, moving a PDF draft into Markdown for content editing, and migrating existing PDF references into documentation that is easier to search and maintain. A rendered preview sits beside the editable Markdown so the structure can be checked before the result is reused.
The site is free to use and requires no sign-up. It also publishes a practical guide to extracting text from scanned PDFs, a reproducible PDF to Markdown benchmark, and a privacy policy describing the boundary of local processing; network requests may still load the site code and the local OCR resources.

We were just writing helpful articles, support articles based on the questions customers were getting. We wrote an article on how to create OpenAI API keys — just screenshots, do this, do this. We didn't realize we ranked number one on Google for 6 to 8 months. We accidentally realized Google is actually a genuine inbound traffic channel.
Write support articles for existing customers — one accidentally ranked #1 for 6 months
Elephas's SEO engine started by accident: they wrote plain-English support articles answering real customer questions (like 'how to create OpenAI API keys') and one ranked #1 for 6-8 months. That free traffic taught them which adjacent queries to target next. The lesson: your customer support inbox is a free keyword research tool, and utility articles compound into product-intent listicles.
There are two places to hit users with a paywall — on open and on feature gates. Best practice is to do both. You get more shots on goal and you get users at different intent levels.
More shots on goal: show the paywall on every app open AND before locked features
Moore frames paywall placement as a volume-of-exposure problem: the more touchpoints, the more chances to convert at the moment a user's intent peaks. Showing the paywall only once (e.g., only at first launch) abandons users who return days later with higher willingness to pay. Combining app-open paywalls with feature-gate paywalls ensures coverage across both early curiosity and later demonstrated need.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
