Free Link Preview Checker & Open Graph Tester
Paste a URL to see exactly how it shows up on Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp and Google — then fix what's broken before you share your launch.
Preview looks off? Fix the image.
How link previews work
When you paste a link into X, LinkedIn, Slack or WhatsApp, the platform sends its own crawler to your page, reads the Open Graph and Twitter Card tags in the <head>, downloads the image and builds a card. It saves that card and reuses it every time the link is shared again. That is why a preview can stay wrong after you've fixed the page.
This checker fetches your page the way those crawlers do and shows the card each platform would build: Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Pinterest and Google. It flags missing or broken tags, lets you edit them, and gives you the corrected meta tag code to paste back.
Which tags matter
You need fewer tags than most guides suggest:

Common problems and how to fix them
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No image at all | Relative og:image URL, or image blocked by robots.txt or a login | Use a full https:// URL to a public image |
| Image cropped or tiny | Wrong ratio or under the minimum size | Use 1200×630 |
| Old title or image after you changed it | The platform cached an earlier version | Refresh the cache (see below) or rename the image file |
| Generic or empty card | Tags are added by JavaScript after load | Render the tags on the server; most crawlers don't run JavaScript |
| Works on X, blank on LinkedIn | Image over LinkedIn's 5 MB limit | Compress the image |

How to refresh a cached preview
| Platform | How to refresh |
|---|---|
| Sharing Debugger → “Scrape Again” | |
| Post Inspector → inspect the URL (affects new posts, not ones already published) | |
| Slack | Caches for about 30 minutes, then fetches again |
| iMessage | Built on the sender's phone, so the next send uses your current tags |
| X, WhatsApp, Discord | No official refresh tool. Changing the image URL (og-v2.png) or sharing the link with ?v=2 makes them fetch again |
Check your preview before launch day
Launch links get shared hundreds of times in a few hours, and the first share sets the cached card many people will see. Run your homepage and launch page through this checker the day before, refresh Facebook and LinkedIn so they hold the final version, and only then post. If anything else on the page might break under launch traffic, the free website audit checks SEO, speed and share tags in one pass.
Sharing the link offline too, on a booth banner, flyer or packaging? Turn it into a code with QRKit's free QR code generator, which tracks scans and lets you change where the code points after it's printed.
