About

Dot Symbol is a free browser-based tool for finding and copying dot-like characters: bullet dots, middle dots, small dots, black and white circles, mathematical dot operators, multi-dot sequences and coloured circle emoji. Each symbol sits on its own card, and a single click copies it.

The library is organised into practical groups rather than one long list. Popular covers the nine characters most people reach for, Middle & Center collects the middle dot, dot operator and bullet operator, Bullet holds the list markers, Small and Big separate the light and heavy weights, Circle gathers the ringed and fisheye shapes, Math groups the operator characters such as therefore and because, Multi-dot holds the three-dot and four-dot sequences in horizontal and vertical forms, and Emoji collects the coloured circle characters. The same Unicode character can appear in more than one group, because the groups are meant for scanning by visual weight, text role, mathematics or colour.

Copying is deliberate about feedback. The site confirms a copy only after the browser clipboard write actually succeeds, and when access fails it shows a manual recovery message instead of pretending the copy worked. The recently copied list is kept in the browser local storage, appears only after successful copies, holds at most ten values and can be cleared; no server receives it.

Two tools go beyond a simple copy button. The dot separator builder lets you add any card to a sequence, and emoji or multi-code-point characters stay intact instead of being split. Dot compare puts similar-looking characters side by side, because a dot can be punctuation, a list marker, a geometric shape or a mathematical operator, and a similar appearance does not mean identical text.

For people who need the characters in code rather than in a sentence, the indexed guides cover Windows, macOS, mobile, Word, HTML, CSS and JavaScript notes, including literal characters, HTML entities, code points, CSS escapes and JavaScript escapes. The site recommends saving source files as UTF-8 so the characters survive the round trip, and it is explicit that Unicode stores characters by identity while fonts control appearance: a middle dot, a dot operator and a bullet operator can look close and remain different code points.

Practical guidance is included as well. True bullet characters suit plain-text lists, while an editor list formatting is better when indentation and accessibility matter. Middle dots create a compact rhythm in labels, bios, navigation and metadata, and mathematical dots need the correct operator character. Circles work as visual markers, but interactive states still need real labels and accessible controls, and any dot used in formulas, identifiers or technical documents should be checked against its official Unicode name and code point first.

Dot Symbol is free and needs no account or registration. Everything runs in the browser, and the only stored data is the optional recently copied list that never leaves the device.
