SightRadar
Face recognition API, Rekognition-compatible, pay per photo
Developer Tools·AI & Machine Learning·Security
What is SightRadar?
SightRadar is a face recognition API for teams that need face search, verification and detection at scale, without AWS Rekognition's pricing. It is Rekognition-compatible: point the AWS SDK (boto3 and others) at SightRadar's endpoint and your existing code keeps working.
What you get:
- Face search: find one person across thousands of photos from a single selfie (event photos, media libraries, photo delivery)
- 1:1 verification: compare two faces with a similarity threshold you choose
- Face detection with confidence scores you can threshold on
- Rekognition-compatible API: CreateCollection, IndexFaces, SearchFacesByImage, CompareFaces, DetectFaces and more
- Photos with no faces return valid empty results, not errors
- Per-photo billing, never per face: batch indexing from $0.00062 per photo, real-time $0.00093 per photo
- Privacy by design: GDPR-ready with a Data Processing Agreement, face vectors isolated and encrypted per account, never used for model training
- SDKs on npm and PyPI, plus a Rekognition shim for Python
Use cases:
- Event and wedding photographers delivering each guest's photos from one selfie
- Apps adding selfie-based identity verification (KYC, onboarding)
- Media libraries and DAMs tagging and searching people across archives
- Teams on AWS Rekognition cutting their face-API bill without rewriting code

Anyone who is iterating so quickly don't forget to market to your existing customers not just new customers — I know for a fact there are customers who've been using our app for a year and a half and they haven't used half of our features because they don't even know they exist.
Market New Features to Existing Customers — They Miss Half of What You Ship
Fast-shipping teams constantly add features, but users who joined six months ago often miss them entirely. Captions addresses this with in-app messaging personalized by last active date: 'since you last logged in, here is what changed.' Marketing new features to the existing subscriber base — not just acquisition audiences — is a free retention lever that most apps leave untapped, especially those shipping weekly.
It's open source all the rules are merged on in GitHub so the maintenance cost is like 3 hours per month and then we continue building our main startup.
Let The Community Submit Content Via GitHub Pull Requests So The Directory Grows Itself
Cursor Directory's content layer is a public GitHub repo where users PR new rules — the founders just review merges. That turns content production into a community input pipeline, keeps maintenance at 3 hours/month, and gives every contributor a reason to share the site with their audience.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
