What is ASO Studio?
ASO Studio is an app store keyword research tool.
Building an app stopped being the hard part. Knowing whether it's worth building, and what to target once it's live, still is.
ASO Studio is a native Mac app that handles both.
Before you build. Point it at an idea or an existing app and it finds every app already doing that job, discovered from live search rather than a category label. It reads their reviews and surfaces the complaints that keep repeating, so you can see the features the market has already asked for and nobody has shipped. You also get the shape of the space: how many apps compete, how many are actually growing, what they earn, and how they monetize.
After you ship. It scans for every term your app ranks for, including ones you never targeted, and scores each keyword for demand, difficulty, and whether an app your size can realistically win it. Then it names the one term worth a release, writes the exact title, subtitle and keyword field to win it, and shows you what you'd lose by shipping that change. No other tool prices the downside.
Across the store. Track how every App Store category is moving day by day, and which apps entered or fell out of the top 100 grossing this week.
Works out of the box on public App Store data. No API keys, no App Store Connect password. Your research stays on your Mac. A built-in MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor or Codex read your keywords and add new ones while you work.

The most loved interaction is the unlocking of that stone — when you get granted a new gemstone because you've passed a new milestone. You get to tap to crack the gemstone and that's the most-talked-about interaction. People really remember this and talk about it and it really helps build the brand.
The gemstone crack interaction cost weeks of engineering — it became the most-loved moment in the app
Schlenker describes Opal's signature reward interaction: users who hit focus milestones receive an opaque gemstone they can tap to crack open, revealing a new unique gemstone of varying colors and shapes. Schlenker is candid that this was expensive to build and hard to justify on a sprint backlog — there were always 50 more urgent things. But the tap-to-crack gemstone became the interaction users describe to friends, the thing they screenshot, and the moment most associated with Opal as a brand. Unreasonably crafted microinteractions compound into differentiation.
the reason why I can't stand the word personal brand is because when I think of brand I feel like I'm productizing myself and when I think of productizing myself I think of the Bros... they all use the same hooks they're all selling the same thing... what you're really building is a platform in itself that stands maybe slightly on top but at least with many different legs on all these other platforms
Replace "personal brand" with "personal platform" — brand productizes you
"Personal brand" frames you as a product — same hooks, same templated personality, same Drop Shipping aesthetic. Reframe what you're building as a personal platform: a thing with its own substance that has multiple legs into Twitter, LinkedIn, newsletter, podcast, cohort — and that survives any one channel going dark. The brand metaphor pulls you toward the Bro template; the platform metaphor pulls you toward durable substance you actually own.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.

1Hey, I'm Joe. I shipped a few iOS apps before I found out the App Store is a search engine, and every tool that would have told me what to target was priced for a marketing team. So I built this one.
