What is Rankify?

Rankify is a shopify collection sorting app.

Rankify automatically re-sorts Shopify collections on a schedule using the signals that matter to each merchant, including sales, revenue, margin, inventory, reviews, and storefront behaviour. Merchants can pin important products, run collection experiments, and keep merchandising rules working continuously so shoppers see relevant bestsellers while stores improve discovery and average order value.

Distribution
I think fewer people are searching for apps and so being in a featured list in the App Store is not the thing it used to be… a lot of my downloads are coming from the word-of-mouth version of organic rather than someone coming to the App Store with a need.

App Store Browsing Is Dead — Word of Mouth Is the New Organic

The era of users browsing the App Store for discovery is over — most users come in with specific intent or via a recommendation. For David, App Store featuring, while still valuable, no longer drives the volume spikes it once did. Durable organic growth now requires building features that generate screenshots, shares, and genuine conversation.

Retention
The widget takes the streak outside the app to reinforce it so as you're scrolling your phone subconsciously — or consciously — you're seeing that. It has a huge effect to say 'Oh I need to remember to go do my third workout' or there's that sense of pride.

Home screen widgets are billboards — a third of Ladder users have one driving three-workout streaks

Approximately one-third of Ladder users have installed the home screen widget — a calendar showing yellow boxes for each completed workout. Gammon describes it as a billboard visible to the user (and anyone nearby who sees their phone), driving both self-accountability and occasional organic word-of-mouth. Key timing insight: don't offer the widget immediately — earn trust first, then present it with clear setup instructions since most users don't know how to install widgets.

There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
