CompressGIF· GIF compressor
Compress animated GIFs in your browser, without uploading local files
What is CompressGIF?
CompressGIF is a GIF compressor.
Reduce animated GIF file sizes before uploading them to a website, chat, or social post. CompressGIF processes local files in your browser, so you can compress and download a GIF without an account or watermark.
Choose Quality first to prioritize appearance, Size first for smaller files, or Target size when you need to work toward an upload limit. Preview the animation and compare the original and compressed sizes before downloading. Target size is best effort; some GIFs cannot reach a chosen limit.
The browser tool has a free tier, with optional Pro features for larger files and batch workflows. Developers can automate cloud compression through a REST API or hosted Streamable HTTP MCP server using an API key. API and MCP processing takes place in the cloud and shares account credits; free accounts receive 500 cloud credits per month.

Apps are dead etc which of course is not true — it seems difficult to make a living off it with such a crowded app market.
The App Store Is Not Dead — The Mass-Market Commodity App Is Dead
The 'apps are dead' narrative confuses the mass-market commodity problem with the indie niche opportunity. Generic productivity apps, generic social apps, generic fitness apps — those are brutally competitive. But a fishing log app, a woodworking calculator, a beekeeping tracker, or a surf forecast subscription? Those niches are not crowded and the competitive dynamics are completely different. The crowded market argument does not apply when you go narrow enough.
We spend a lot of time looking at our data and pulling out specifically people that downloaded the app and then churned or took one class and then churned and we spend a lot of time talking to those people as well.
Interview Churned Users Specifically — They Tell You What Kept Them From Converting
Most product teams over-interview power users and get survivorship-bias feedback. Zumba deliberately pulled churned segments from their data — one class then quit, downloaded but never opened — and ran structured conversations with them. The result: they discovered a major churn driver was users preferring in-person classes, which shaped the app's class locator feature.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
