What is ClipTalk?
ClipTalk is a web app for producing short vertical videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, as well as landscape YouTube videos. A user describes the video in a sentence, pastes a script, or links a product page, and the app writes the script, generates AI images or video clips, records a voiceover, adds word-by-word captions and background music, and renders an MP4 in 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9.
Templates cover common short-form formats: faceless narrated stories, UGC-style product ads with a presenter, motion-graphics explainers, quizzes, scripted micro-dramas between characters, brainrot shorts over looping gameplay or satisfying footage, and music videos cut to an uploaded song. A viral video's format can be remade from a link.
After generation, the video opens in a timeline editor. Changes can also be requested in plain language, such as cutting silences, fixing captions, switching the narrator voice or the music, swapping a scene, or changing layout and speed. Characters keep the same face and voice across videos, and the voice library covers many languages.
ClipTalk also runs a hosted MCP server, so assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can create and edit videos directly from a chat, with a price estimate before anything is generated. Accounts start with free credits; paid plans add more.

The paywall isn't a single screen you optimize in isolation. It's the culmination of the story you've been telling the user since they first tapped your app. The copy, the value prop, the social proof — they all need to hang together as a coherent arc.
Think of paywall testing as a narrative flow, not a single screen tweak
Stone reframes A/B testing as story-arc testing: each element of the paywall (headline, subhead, benefits list, social proof, CTA) must reinforce the same emotional narrative the user has been building through onboarding. Testing a headline in isolation without changing the supporting copy often fails because the narrative becomes incoherent. The most impactful tests swap the whole paywall story, not individual components.

Show up where your ICP already is instead of inventing new channels
Rather than building an audience from scratch, Jonathan found distribution by showing up in channels developers already trusted — Hacker News, GitHub, and niche subreddits like r/selfhosted. The internal team-sharing dynamic was particularly powerful: one developer discovers the tool, shares it with colleagues, and the product spreads without any marketing spend.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
