Temp Email
One throwaway address for a whole homepage week
Productivity·Security·Communication
What is Temp Email?
Monday is a strange day to meet a product: it arrives with the week's other arrivals, gets a week on the homepage, and then the homepage moves on. To judge it fairly you have to do more than glance at the landing page on Monday morning — sign up, try it, and see what it does. That is where the email problem starts, quietly. Every product you test properly wants an address first. Give it your real one five times in a week and you have signed yourself up for five sets of follow-ups: onboarding steps, trial reminders, a note when the homepage week ends, a newsletter you never meant to keep getting. Temp Email keeps the two apart. Go to tempamail.com and the site generates a disposable email address instantly. There is no registration to finish first and no personal details to enter. Use that address in the signup form for a launch you are testing, then return to the same page to read whatever arrives in the temporary inbox. Confirmation links, verification codes, download messages and trial notices land there, not in your real mailbox. Temporary does not mean a countdown here: some disposable inboxes die ten minutes after you create them, whether the trial is finished or not. A Temp Email address stays active for as long as you need it. If a second message is due after the homepage week has closed, it still arrives. When the thing you were testing has had its chance, delete the address by hand and move on. You can also keep several addresses running at once and switch between them — one for serious tests, one for newsletters, one for downloads. When the week is over, retire the ones that have done their job; your personal address was never on the board in the first place. There is a separate /edu page at tempamail.com/edu for the narrower case where a student discount or a verification step asks for a temporary .edu address. Generated instantly, no registration, deleted when you are done. It is not a university mailbox, and it will not suit a check that requires university-issued documents. None of this makes Temp Email a replacement for your real email. It receives mail for the disposable addresses you create; it is not where permanent correspondence should live. It is a small tool for a week-shaped problem: try what a board puts on its homepage, and walk away on Sunday with the same clean inbox you started with. Honest limitation: this is a temporary inbox, not a permanent mailbox — it is not for banking or anything you need to keep.

Strategy based comms and marketing is so much more interesting and so much more important long term — you really need to get that out of a PR strategist; you won't get that out of a PR firm.
Hire a PR strategist, not a PR firm — you need a narrative, not a press-release factory
A traditional PR firm packages and blasts press releases to maximize surface area — useful for gaming companies seeding their name broadly. But what app founders actually need is someone who builds the narrative you'll tell consistently over years: the story your future users and investors will always recognize as true. That strategic layer isn't a volume game.
Fitness is easy where there's a natural retention metric which is workouts... everything that we build every feature that we contemplate inside the app is all aimed at incremental workout completions. High workouts equals high LTV so these things lead to LTV as an output metric.
Pick a Behavioral North-Star Metric That Directly Predicts Revenue — For Ladder It Is Workout Completions
Instead of optimizing for LTV directly, Ladder found the single behavioral metric — workout completions — that is both within their control and highly predictive of retention and revenue. Every product decision runs through the filter of 'does this increase incremental workout completions?' Finding your app's equivalent (meditation sessions completed, recipes saved, journal streaks) makes product roadmaps self-prioritizing.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
