What is South EmaIl?
Your mail is nobody's business.
It travels between your Mac and your mail server. Not through us, not through anyone. That's the whole list.
Your mail
Stays on your Mac, in a local database. We never see it, store it, sell it or train anything on it. There's nothing for us to leak, because we don't have it.
Your license
To check your license we keep your purchase email and an anonymous ID for each Mac. Nothing about your mail, ever.
The assistant
Off until you turn it on. Use a free model on your Mac, or your own Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or Gemini key, and what you ask goes straight from your Mac to them. South shows you exactly what's sent before the first question.
Analytics and ads
None in the app, none on this site. We make money one way: you pay for South.

there's something really nice about this human connection a lot of people are lonely today some things you almost don't want to automate but but the the boring stuff definitely
Automate the boring layer, never the human-to-human connection
Louie automates transcripts, threads, event registration, and a fine-tuned chatbot for course Q&A — but deliberately keeps member-to-member contact manual. Loneliness is the actual problem the community solves; over-automating the relational layer would gut retention even as it cuts cost. Draw the line: automate admin, leave the high-signal human touchpoints alone.
before writing a single line of code I needed 10 events with an actual date with an actual commitment that they would like to try using out the product Having a commitment to actually use at an event where you have your friends your family your loved ones there we thought that was already a big enough commitment that it was almost proxy to a payment
Set a commitment metric — refuse to code until prospects pre-commit usage
Pick one specific number that proves real intent — not signups, not interest, but committed usage. For Once it was 10 confirmed event hosts with dates on the calendar who would put their wedding or birthday party on an unbuilt app. That commitment is functionally a pre-payment of trust. Set the number, give yourself a deadline, and refuse to start coding until both are met.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
