Product Launch Checklist
Every launch step, why it matters and when to skip it
Developer Tools·Productivity·Marketing
What is Product Launch Checklist?
Product Launch Checklist is a free list for people launching software, from the moment the product works to the first month after launch. It covers SaaS, mobile apps, AI tools, browser extensions, open source projects and developer tools.
Every item says why it matters and says when you can skip it. Pick what you are launching and the list gets shorter, not longer: billing and trials come in for SaaS, store review and privacy labels for apps. Your ticks are remembered in the browser, and the whole thing is readable without an account, an email or a payment.
It is also built for AI agents. The checklist is available as Markdown, through a no-auth MCP server with get_checklist and get_item tools, and as an agent skill, so an assistant can walk you through your own launch one item at a time.

word of mouth is consistently one of our top five attribution sources so like on our customer attribution thing people will just type in friend so you know people actually like the product but if you have something that's truly original and solves a pain point especially around an emerging trend people will notice if you're first to market with something
Treat Strong Word-of-Mouth as Proof Your Product Solves a Real Problem
Tracking attribution revealed that a significant share of Faceless Video's users came from friends recommending it — a signal the founders treated as proof the product genuinely resonated. Being first to market on an emerging trend compounded this effect, because early adopters naturally evangelized to peers who faced the same pain.
My professor told me: strategically, you know who your customer is — they're the person that gives you money.
Your real customer is whoever pays you — not whoever uses the product
Talking Parents initially targeted courts and judges as their customer, even sending the co-founder to courthouses around the country. Revenue only took off when they reoriented entirely around parents. The lesson scales universally: however logical the indirect channel looks, the person funding your roadmap should be the person you design for.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.

1Hey everyone, maker here. Every launch guide I found said to do everything, and almost none said why a step matters or when you can safely skip it. So I built the list I wanted. Every item in Product Launch Checklist comes with the reason and a skip note. Pick what you are launching (SaaS, mobile app, AI tool, browser extension, open source, dev tool) and the list gets shorter, not longer. It runs from the product working to the first month after launch, and your ticks stay in your browser. No account, no email wall, no ads. It also ships a free MCP server and an agent skill, so your AI assistant can walk you through your own launch one item at a time. Which launch step do you always forget?
