What is Morning?
Morning is a private dictation app for macOS 14 and later that lives in your Mac's notch. Hold Control + Space (or your own shortcut), speak, and let go. Your words are pasted wherever your cursor is: an email, a note, a doc, or a prompt for your AI coding assistant. Speech recognition runs on your Mac with local Whisper models, so your voice stays on your Mac. Optional AI cleanup is available, and you choose whether it uses a cloud provider. The notch also shows now-playing media controls and AirPods status. Dictation is unlimited. Try it free, then buy it once, with no subscription. Built by Seattle Intelligence Labs, Inc. in Seattle, WA.

there's a sort of an early phase where building in public sharing everything is a really good idea and then there comes a point and it's not well defined you kind of get the feeling maybe you'll see the copycats maybe you'll see your competition speaking about you where it makes a little bit more sense to dial back how transparent you're being
Dial back building in public when noticed
Build-in-public has a phase, not a permanent setting. Share aggressively early to bootstrap attention and distribution, then watch for the signal — copycats appearing, competitors quoting your numbers, your data being scraped. That's when transparency stops compounding for you and starts compounding for them.
I'll go and download a whole bunch of apps, maybe 20 apps that are in the niche... screenshot every single page in every single onboarding... I'll put them all on one big line in a Figma file... You can really just drop the screenshots into Claude or Cursor and it'll actually be able to write the code for the full screen for you.
Screenshot 20 Competitor Onboardings Into Figma Then Feed The Mashup Straight Into Claude Code
Connor's 2-week build process starts by ripping 20 competitor onboardings into a single Figma board, remixing the best screens in his own aesthetic, then dropping the redesigned screenshots directly into Claude Code to generate the screens. He also pre-writes a JSON data-structure doc so the AI doesn't have to guess at shape.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
