MarcX Studio
Simple iPhone apps for spelling, listening and languages
What is MarcX Studio?
MarcX Studio is an independent app studio that builds small, practical apps for iPhone, with a focus on language learning, education and everyday tasks. The studio's own description is simple: it builds practical apps for everyday tasks, such as keeping loyalty cards ready and practising spelling and number listening.
The apps share a few habits. Each one does one job clearly. Most of them work without an account. They keep your data on your device unless you choose to back it up or share it. And they are free to download, with optional upgrades for people who want more.
The studio website, https://www.marcx.app, is available in many languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German and others. The apps themselves are built for learners and families around the world.
This introduction covers the studio's main apps: Snap Spell, NumListen, 成语拾光 (Idiom Shiguang) and RooCards.
Snap Spell is an iPhone spelling practice app for the word lists students actually bring home. You scan a printed list, import a photo or screenshot, paste text or type the words. You then check the list before saving it, and the school's spelling stays exactly as written. Snap Spell reads every word aloud and checks each answer. Missed words come back in Tricky Words, and each word is tracked as To Study, Practicing or Mastered.
Snap Spell is for families with weekly spelling words, students preparing for spelling tests and spelling bees, ESL and EFL families who want every English word read aloud, and teachers and tutors whose classroom lists become practice each learner can repeat.

Discount mockery from close friends — they aren't your target market
When close friends ridicule the idea, that is not market feedback — they aren't in your target niche and have no skin in the use case. Cedric's friends still mock Pepai while it does $33K/month and growing. Weigh signals from actual prospective users — waitlist signups, influencer interest, review patterns from competitor apps — far more heavily than the opinions of the people closest to you.
Monthly membership which is right now at $29, that will be $39 to $49 in next 6 months. And we're also doing a heavy 40% discount on yearly membership.
Pre-announce a price hike to make today's price feel like a steal
Publicly committing to a future price increase creates urgency on today's price and signals confidence in the product's trajectory. Pair with a steep annual discount to lock in cash and reduce churn before the hike lands.
