A HYROX coach that pushes back.

AI & Machine Learning

What is Kracey?

Kracey is an HYROX training plan app.

Kracey is an AI coach for HYROX athletes. It writes your training plan, reads every session you do through intervals.icu (which syncs from Garmin, COROS, Polar, Suunto, WHOOP, Oura, Strava and Wahoo), and changes the plan when your body or your week does. You talk to it in Telegram, so there is no dashboard to check and no app to learn. Your coach opens the conversation, asks a few questions, builds a macro plan from base through peak toward your race, and says something when you drift. Sessions land in a live calendar feed on your phone. Direct, collaborative and low pressure coaching styles. Also coaches running and hybrid training.

When we tested it for the first time it broke even. That was quite a surprise for us because that had never happened before. And so we tested it again on iOS and on Android on different cohorts of users — new users, existing users, reactivated users. We kept getting similar results.

When a price test breaks even, that is the signal to raise prices

Years of testing showed that raising the price always lost money on net — until late 2024, when doubling the price simply broke even. Patrick treated that break-even as green-light data: if there is no revenue downside and the higher price unlocks paid acquisition and covers AI marginal costs, raising it is essentially free upside. A break-even test is not a reason to pause — it is a reason to move.

I wrote a blog post that evening just saying hey as the first product manager at mint we don't know what's happening but this is why we think you should pay for a personal finance product... then the next day they officially announced... I revised my blog post pretty quickly.

Draft the Blog Post the Night the Rumor Drops — Revise When It's Official

When the Mint shutdown first surfaced on a support forum (before official confirmation), Val drafted a response post the same evening from the angle of Mint's original PM. That pre-work meant Monarch had a polished, credible piece ready to publish within hours of the official announcement — capturing the critical window when millions of Mint users were searching for alternatives. The lesson: preparation at the rumor stage converts black swans into launches.

There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
