What is Futuriza?
Brazilian fashion tech startup leading generative photography and AI tools for fashion brands. Futuriza replaces traditional fashion photoshoots with generative AI. Brands get ultra-realistic e-commerce photos, lookbooks, campaigns and fashion films, styled by fashion experts and checked by automatic AI quality control, in half the time and at a fraction of the cost. Digital twins of real models, a self-service studio for smaller brands, real-time virtual try-on, GEO metadata and AI live commerce avatars complete the stack. Calvin Klein, Farm Rio and 120+ brands in 17 countries already use it.

I told my wife: if this doesn't hit $10K MRR by the end of the year, I'll shut it down. I didn't really want to shut it down — but I needed to feel like failure was real. Once the downside was concrete, I made decisions completely differently.
Loss aversion is a more reliable motivator than ambition — engineer the stakes deliberately
Duffett engineered artificial stakes to activate loss aversion as a motivator. With no external investors or boss, the natural default for indie founders is infinite tolerance for slow progress. By committing to a shutdown condition publicly (to his wife), he created a real cost to under-performance. The psychological research is consistent with his experience: people work harder to avoid losing something than to gain something equivalent.
Hours 5 to 12 I started using Cursor to build out the core features. From there I spent hours 13 to 20 testing bugs and iterating. At hours 21 to 30 I thought I would spend a lot of time polishing the UI. Hours 31 to 40 edge cases. Hours 41 to 48 demo prep.
Plan the 48-hour MVP hour-by-hour, not as a vague "I will build this weekend"
Rather than a vague 48-hour ship goal, Hassam allocated specific hour blocks: 0-4 mapping the partner's SOPs, 5-12 core features in Cursor, 13-20 bug testing, 21-30 branded UI polish, 31-40 edge cases, 41-48 demo recording. The schedule forced shipping over polishing and made the demo deadline binding.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
