What is DualTrans?
DualTrans is a browser extension that translates web pages into bilingual, side-by-side reading views. Instead of replacing the original page with a single translated version, it embeds translations directly beneath the source text while preserving the page's structure and code. It also offers YouTube and video dual subtitles, instant selection lookup for words and definitions, and a floating quick-action ball for one-click full-page translation.
DualTrans is aimed at people who read foreign-language material and want to check the source as they go. The page highlights software engineers reading documentation and GitHub issues, researchers skimming academic papers with LaTeX formulas, business analysts following international news, and language learners studying lectures, TED talks, and podcasts.
The extension supports several AI model options. Pro Cloud provides managed access to DeepSeek, Gemini, Claude, and OpenAI models without requiring an API key. Bring Your Own Key lets users connect their own keys from supported providers, including OpenAI-compatible endpoints and local Ollama models, with keys stored in local browser storage. When AI quota is unavailable, the extension can fall back to free classic engines such as Google Translate and Microsoft Edge Neural Translate.
What sets it apart, according to the page, is its focus on layout and reading comfort: six selectable translation styles, sidebar previews, and a design that keeps code blocks, tables, and math formulas intact.

most writing can be reverse engineered back into these four different buckets it's either actionable aspirational analytical or anthropological... what's happening in that moment is your friend loves aspirational books and you hate aspirational books you love actionable books right
Pick one of the 4A buckets — actionable, aspirational, analytical, or anthropological
Every piece of writing falls into one of four buckets: (1) Actionable — "here's how to do X"; (2) Aspirational — "I was broke, now I'm free, you can be too"; (3) Analytical — "here's what's happening in this trend"; (4) Anthropological — "here's what this group of people is going through." Pick the one you enjoy writing AND the one your target reader prefers consuming. Mismatch creates the "my friend loves this book but I can't get past page one" effect — both writer and reader were valid, the bucket didn't match.
we got two offers that were like below what we were asking for and Kent and I just had this floor we're like we're just not going to go below this and we stuck to our guns
Set A Valuation Floor And Walk Away From Bad Shark Tank Offers
Going into Shark Tank, Ryan and Kent set a hard valuation floor and refused to drop below it, even with two live offers on the table. They walked away with no cash but kept their cap table intact, and the exposure plus the relationship with Daniel Lubetzky later saved the business from a trademark lawsuit.
There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
