What is Builtbyindies?

Builtbyindies is a launch platform for indie hackers. Makers submit a product with a name, tagline, logo and a few screenshots, then go live during a launch week where other makers can upvote, comment and share feedback. Launches are published in small weekly batches, so each product stays on the launchpad all week in front of makers and early users.

The platform is aimed at indie hackers and solo founders who want visibility on launch day, practical feedback from people who ship their own products, and a listing that keeps working afterward. Each product gets a permanent page that is indexed by Google and is set up for AI search. A buildlog lets makers post updates so people who found them on launch day can follow what they ship next.

What sets it apart is the focus on makers giving feedback to each other, plus a free entry tier. Standard launches are free and join the queue for the next open week. Paid one-time options, Plus at $9 and Featured at $19, add faster scheduling, a dofollow link, homepage spotlight time and a blog post, with no subscriptions. The top three products in a launch week receive a badge and a dofollow link.

Shipping
long-term optimism for difficult projects is made out of short-term pessimism... if you internalize that right up front and you're like everything's going to go wrong and then you operate accordingly you often are going to frontload whatever work you have um and and if you do that enough at the small scale you're going to have compounding wins

Front-load short-term pessimism for long-term optimism

Wake up assuming the day will go sideways and the hard task will get harder. That mild pessimism forces you to eat the frog before noon, so when the inevitable wrench arrives you're already two hours ahead. Plan in nested scales (day → week → month → quarter), and at every layer ask "what does this look like when everything goes wrong?" Compounded daily, this is how multi-year shipping survives reality.

Retention
As your subscription grows you see more of your members who tried you at some point come back uh that's a good sign uh it means that you know they got the value at some point in time for whatever reason they decided they're not going to use premium uh for the short term but then they came back later.

Boomerang subscribers are proof of a value-first brand — design for dignified exits

Levit frames 'boomerang' (churned-then-returned) subscribers as a leading indicator of product health. If subscribers leave satisfied, they return when life circumstances change — new job search, new business venture. LinkedIn tracks boomerangs as a meaningful cohort and designs the cancellation experience to preserve goodwill rather than trap users with friction. A dignified cancellation is an investment in future resubscription.

There's a play for whatever you're stuck on.
